Restore 1900s Family Album
Our client brought in a family album dating from the early 1900s, with pages that had significantly deteriorated over time and photographs that were faded and torn. The restoration required detailed work, including facial reconstruction, colour correction, and the careful removal of scratches. A new, clean page design was created, allowing each photograph to be extracted and thoughtfully reintroduced.
The original pages were carefully removed and prepared for digitisation, then captured using ultra high-resolution photography to preserve every possible detail. Each photograph was digitally lifted from the page and placed into the newly designed layouts.
All images were fully restored and colour-corrected before being shared with the client for proofing. Once approved, the complete set of 108 pages was printed on archival, pigment-friendly 160gsm paper, chosen to prevent future deterioration and fading.
Six copies were produced, each fully bound in blue hide leather, with navy marbled endpapers and gold blocking to the front, back, and spine.
