  • Alternatively; we have a state of the art mobile studio that we can bring to you for copying all types of artwork (perfect for copying larger quantities of artwork, items of higher value or items that are too larger to easily transport.

Lighting / Setup

  • We use our photography expertise and our state of the art lighting equipment to ensure all relief and detail is displayed to its full potential prior to copying.

  • The type of artwork we are copying and the media on which it is painted with determine which type of lighting method we us.

  • Our in house framers (www.greenlysframing.co.uk) can be on hand to unframe and reframe the original artwork should this be necessary to get the optimum outcome.

  • We can clean glass and scan through it using non-reflective techniques if required

Photographing / Scanning

  • We use state of the art, medium format cameras and flat bed scanners to ensure that we can capture images of the highest resolution and widest colour gamut. This allows us to create reproductions with incredible colour matching and clarity, whilst also giving us the option to produce reproductions larger than the originals where necessary.

Colour matching

  • All of our cameras, lights & scanners, screens and printers are calibrated on a continuous basis ensuring that we always exceed industry standards.

  • We create an ICC colour profile specifically for the lighting condition used when copying each individual piece of artwork. This allows us to perform a detailed colour match on site.

  • A full colour matching service is also available when required, where we tweak individual colours to ensure as close a match to the original as possible. This is done at the proofing stage and involves producing multiple proof prints.

Restoring (optional)

  • Our experienced technicians can clean unwanted marks, colour-correct any fading, restore any damage and enhance the overall digital image, whilst still retaining the original artwork feel.

  • We can also digitally manipulate artwork by removing certain details and creating extra features or space if required.

Cleaning & Restoring Original Artwork

  • We also offer a cleaning and restoration service for original artwork should this be required.

  • Quite often when copying older artwork; a surface clean or varnish removal can make a huge difference to the colours. We would always say in advance of copying if we felt a clean would be advised.

Proofing

  • Prior to printing the full sized reproduction we will always print a smaller proof print to ensure that the colours are correct.

  • In the instance that we don’t have the original with us we send a proof print to you for approval.

  • When we are performing a detailed colour matching service we will produce multiple proof prints with slight adjustments in colour to choose from.

Printing

  • We have our own printing lab in our offices in hungerfor, equipped with the latest fine art giclee printers as well as a huge range of archival, fine art papers, canvases and other media allowing us to match any finish required.

  • Our printing technicians use years of experience to ensure that we are produce the perfect colour match.

Stretching/Framing

Varnishing & Hand finishing

  • Choose between an archival varnish to protect your reproduction or allow our highly skilled artists to hand finish your finished print. The hand finishing stage involves building up multiple brush stroke of varnish and impasto on the print to reproduce the brush strokes that can be seen on the original artwork. The final results are stunning and mean that it is incredibly hard to tell the difference between the original and the reproduction.
