Expert ARTWORK PRESERVATION & digitisation

Fine-Art Reproduction Services

We reproduce artworks of every scale, from small prints to large oil paintings. Each piece can be carefully cleaned, colour-corrected, restored or digitally adapted before being printed using archival inks on a choice of fine art papers, lustre or canvas. Canvas reproductions can also be hand-varnished, stretched onto bespoke stretcher bars and finished with a made-to-measure frame created in our workshop.

A VISIT, ARRANGED AROUN YOU

We have a fully equipped, permanent art reproduction studio at our offices in Hungerford, ideally suited to clients who are locally based or looking to reproduce a smaller number of artworks.

For larger collections, particularly valuable pieces, or artworks that are too large or delicate to transport safely, our state-of-the-art mobile studio can be brought directly to your home, gallery or chosen location. This allows us to reproduce works of almost any scale with the same exceptional level of precision, care and technical expertise.

LIGHTING & SETUP

Using specialist photographic expertise and advanced lighting equipment, we carefully capture each artwork’s texture, relief and finest details.

Lighting is tailored to the medium and surface of the piece, while our in-house framers can unframe and reframe works where needed. We can also photograph through cleaned glass using specialist non-reflective techniques.

PHOTOGRAPHY & SCANNING

Using state-of-the-art medium-format cameras and professional flatbed scanners, we capture each artwork at exceptional resolution and across an extensive colour gamut.

This allows us to produce remarkably accurate colour, clarity and fine detail, while also enabling reproductions to be created at a larger scale than the original where required.

COLOUR MATCHING

Our cameras, lighting, scanners, screens and printers are continuously calibrated to maintain exceptional colour accuracy throughout the reproduction process. A bespoke ICC profile is created for the precise lighting conditions used for each artwork, allowing us to carry out a detailed colour match from the outset.

Where required, we also offer a full colour-matching service, refining individual tones through a series of proof prints to achieve the closest possible match to the original.

OPTIONAL RESTORING

Our experienced technicians can carefully remove unwanted marks, correct fading, restore damage and enhance the digital image while preserving the character of the original artwork. We can also make considered digital alterations, such as removing details or extending areas of the composition where required.

We also offer specialist cleaning and restoration for original artworks. In many cases, a gentle surface clean or varnish removal can significantly revive the original colours, and we will always advise you before reproduction if we believe this would improve the final result.

PROOFING

Before producing the full-size reproduction, we create a smaller proof print to assess colour accuracy and overall balance. Where the original artwork is not available on site, the proof can be sent to you for approval.

For detailed colour matching, we produce a series of carefully adjusted proofs, allowing the closest possible match to the original to be selected before final printing.

PRINTING

Our dedicated printing lab in our Hungerford studio is equipped with the latest fine art giclée printers and an extensive selection of archival papers, canvases and specialist media, allowing us to achieve the ideal finish for each artwork.

Drawing on years of experience, our printing technicians carefully refine every reproduction to deliver exceptional clarity, depth and colour accuracy.

VARNISHING & HAND FINISHING

Choose a protective archival varnish, or opt for our specialist hand-finishing service. Our skilled artists carefully build layers of varnish and impasto onto the print, recreating the texture and individual brushstrokes of the original artwork.

The result is a beautifully authentic reproduction with remarkable depth and character, making it exceptionally difficult to distinguish from the original.

STRETCHING & FRAMING

Our in-house framing team creates bespoke stretcher bars to suit the exact dimensions of each canvas before carefully stretching and finishing it by hand.

Your art can then be completed with a made-to-measure frame, selected from an extensive range of traditional and contemporary mouldings to complement both the artwork and its intended setting.

At Greenly’s, restoration is approached with a deep respect for the original artwork, focusing on preserving its integrity while carefully addressing signs of age or damage. Our specialists work with precision, cleaning, stabilising and subtly retouching where necessary to return each piece as closely as possible to its intended appearance.
